The World Within Names: Arcane Chess
A chess-inspired strategy game that keeps the rules you know and replaces the pieces you start with. Build your army, one King and whatever else your budget allows, then play it out under the same rules that have governed chess for centuries.
Early development · Unity3D · PC & consoles planned
Build your army, keep the rules
Arcane Chess replaces the fixed starting setup with a point-based army you construct yourself. One King, always. Every other piece is your choice within a budget. Standard chess rules, win conditions, and time controls stay intact, so any chess player sits down already knowing how to play.
Thirteen nations, thirteen philosophies
Every playable nation, from OPUS's technocracy to WU WEI's doctrine of non-action to ALEA's radical sortition, fields its own Entelechies: unique pieces with their own lore, art, and place on the board. No two armies think alike.
Digital today, on your table tomorrow
Asynchronous online play, including rooms with no time limit, for matches that unfold across a busy week. And a physical format is part of the plan from day one: printable pieces for real games with real people, across generations.
Still early
This is a teaser built from the game's own design documents, not a finished marketing page, and no art has cleared review for public use yet. A proper section (screenshots, nation art, the full roster) comes once Arcane Chess's own team is ready for it.
